My Design Process
Sometimes people approach me with a theme in mind. Sometimes it's a colour scheme or a feeling. Other times it's a piece of fabric or clothing they want to incorporate into their quilt/blanket. Even if they are completely unsure of where to begin, my background in interior deisgn helps me guide them the aesthic vision they are trying to create.
I believe that constant communication during the quilt/blanket design process is important in capturing the Client's vision.
A digital sketch of my design is created. Often generic colour blocks are added to communicate the vision. When this is approved by the Client, I start to search for fabrics that match the vision of the quilt. Because each project is unique, I do not stock fabrics or purchase them wholesale. Fabrics are typically purchased locally or online.
Once fabrics are selected, they can sometimes be added to the digital sketch. I use the sketch to calculate quantities of fabrics and provide an estimate of materials. The Client reviews the sketch and estimate.
Once the final sketch and estimate is approved, the quilt creation begins.
